Answer: B

In any lattice with a greatest element II and a least element OO, an element yy is a complement of xx if and only if:

x∧y=Oandx∨y=Ix \wedge y = O \quad \text{and} \quad x \vee y = I

From the given Hasse diagram:

  • The least element (bottom) of the lattice is aa.
  • The greatest element (top) of the lattice is gg.

To find the complements of ee, we look for elements xx such that e∧x=ae \wedge x = a and e∨x=ge \vee x = g:

  1. For x=bx = b: e∧b=ae \wedge b = a and e∨b=ge \vee b = g
  2. For x=cx = c: e∧c=ae \wedge c = a and e∨c=ge \vee c = g
  3. For x=dx = d: e∧d=ae \wedge d = a and e∨d=ge \vee d = g

Thus, the element ee has exactly three complements: bb, cc, and dd.
